I want to build this blog on PARROT London to become a hive of interviews and information shared from cool women, to more cool women. It’s great that I have this website where jewellery is sold and my brand can grow, but I love reading blog posts still and learning from people I admire. So this week I’m delighted to have connected with Laura Klein. She currently works as a stylist for coolest brand around (Ganni, natch), and we had a little chat ahead of the bank holiday weekend about style, travel and her current wardrobe wishlist…
Hi PARROT! My name’s Laura, I’m a stylist working in London and living in south east London, but I grew up besides the lovely seas of Brighton.
When I left college I went straight into full time work starting off in Arcadia and then I interned at Harvey Nichols as a buyer, before I landed my first buying job at ASOS where I stayed for a few years. This job taught me invaluable skills and lessons about the fashion industry. I always wanted to be in a more creative role, so I left ASOS and became a freelance stylist before landing my first job at Ganni, which is where I currently work! I also run my Instagram account which is @lauraelizabethklein. The thing I love most about my job is the creative aspect – I love styling all different types of customers, whether it be a wide range of different body types, dressing clients for an occasion or an event… I love the challenge! I also love the social aspect of my job, dealing with different people daily in all different types of jobs – it’s super interesting and keeps things fresh. I would describe my style as quite Danish, which is hardly surprising given I work for a Danish company. I’m not afraid of clashing print or colour, and mixing high street with luxury branding.
So much inspires the way I dress! I can see colour palettes and colour clashes which I would never have dreamt of wearing and yet seeing it visually – it just goes! I also get a lot of inspiration from people I work with and of course Instagram. Sometimes even seeing people walk down the street I think “Damn I wish I thought of that!”On my current wish list is a colourful bag as I’ve always bought a black bag in the past. I’m thinking the Acne Studios Musubi bag in pastel pink. I’m biased but I am really loving all of the new Ganni collection too. Got my eyes on nearly the whole collection!
I also love to travel. I would say Japan has inspired me the most of all the places I have visited. It’s just so culturally different from what I am used to: the people, the food, the clothing. I love the dress sense in Japan, it’s such a mixture between very tailored styling.. Celine, The Row, Chanel and then the colourful clashing of prints.. Gucci, Balenciaga, Acne Studios. It’s exciting. I love PARROT London jewellery so much! I love how you can change the charms depending on what mood you are in and to of course match different outfits.
